Claire & Glory's Equine Photoshoot

Updated: Jul 14, 2024

An early summers day Equine Photoshoot in Derbyshire.

Equine Photoshoot in Derbyshire Farmers Wheat Fields.

I was really looking forward to this day, I had three photoshoots booked at one stables but the weather was looking warm. I had already contacted each owner to move the photoshoots early to avoid the heat, but by the time I left at lunch it was already 32 degrees!

Before my photoshoots I always like to find out about my clients and their models. So I asked Claire, and this is what she said;

"Glory is a 15.2, 27 year old gelding and I have owned him for 18 years. Glory ran wild in a herd for the first 7 years of his life and was bought from an Appleby Horse Fair dealer when he was around 8. He was in very poor condition and weighed just over 400kg. He then came to me as a very green 9 year old. He was very head shy and quirky, he had

no confidence and was scared of his own shadow! After many years together he began to

trust me, showing me small signs at first such as being able to bridle him normally without

having to undo the headpiece and mounting without assistance to being able to clip him

without enough sedation to floor an elephant! I feel lucky to have the most incredible bond

with him now and he trusts me completely. Glory has a cheeky character and loves people, he will do anything for a minty treat and even performs a few tricks!"

When I arrived at the location I was greeted by the longest drive I have ever been down (and that's say something as most stables have long drives). Nestled in the middle of a farm all the crops were at full height, there was soft morning light and luckily the flies were still asleep (mostly).

After meeting Claire & Glory we got cracking and started with a classic favourite of mine, over the gate. We found a lovely spot on a track down the farmers fields, it even had a buffet bar of long grass which Glory loved! But Claire stayed relaxed and just went with it, which made my life so much easier, as Claire was always smiling!

We then moved onto the stunning wheat fields. The sun was bright and still rising, the wheat was tall and had a beautiful soft green look.

We kept changing poses to keep the photoshoot flowing and enjoyable. Standing still for too long only makes your pose look forced and the horse just gets frustrated. After a few more locations, the photoshoot experience was complete and Glory deserved a well earned treat. Both Claire & Glory were a pleasure to work with worth, I don't think I've met

anyone more cheerful than Claire!

It means so much to me when my clients leave a review, and reading Claire's review was really heart warming.

"I wanted a few photos of just me and boy in natural settings. I don't really like having my photo taken but Stephanie made the whole process easy and we chatted the whole way through the shoot which really put me at ease. Stephanie was so patient and just waited to get the right shot and she really has captured some very special moments that I will cherish forever." Claire.

Claire later told me that unfortunately, Glory had a heart murmur, which for most of his life had not affected him. But over the last 18 months it had unfortunately worsened and he had to retire at the beginning of 2024, only 6 months after their photoshoot, in Claire's words "which makes the pictures even more special to me".
